The metalcore revival continues! Right now, we're deep in a wave of very, very young bands like I Promised The World and Holder finding big audiences with a studied, sincere version of the heavy, melodic, epic metalcore sounds of the '00s. Plenty of the musicians in this scene probably weren't alive for the release of the records that they revere, and the fresh-faced South Texas band A New Day definitely belong on that list. A New Day self-released their debut EP So Close To Perfection... last year, and now they've signed with DAZE, arguably the most important label in hardcore right now, to announce its follow-up.
A New Day's second EP has the note-perfect title Held Under An Incandescent Sky, and it comes out next month. Lead single "This Beautiful Deception" opens with one of the most admirably irritating guitar parts you're likely to hear anytime soon, and it builds into something vast and feral that's got notes of black metal and Swedish melodic death metal. Check it out below.
TRACKLIST:
01 "The Carving Of…"
02 "This Beautiful Deception"
03 "Dahlia"
04 "Ulalume"
05 "Love :22"
The Held Under An Incandescent Sky EP is out 10/2 on DAZE. In vaguely related news, A New Day don't have anything to do with the pro wrestling faction formerly known as the New Day, and the New Day don't even use that name anymore anyway. They just made the jump from WWE to AEW, and now they're known as the New Level. They use the A$AP Ferg song as their ring music, and they made a very cool debut in London a few weeks ago.
