More than 10,700 passports have been issued to people in Wicklow so far this year, according to the latest figures from the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The county accounted for 10,736 of the 370,000 passports issued across the island of Ireland to date in 2026, with more than half a million passports issued during the first six months of the year.
The figures were released as holidaymakers continue to travel abroad during the peak summer season and ahead of the autumn mid-term break.
Wicklow TD Edward Timmins said the numbers highlighted the continued demand for passport renewals and applications and urged anyone planning a trip to check their passport is valid well in advance of travelling.
'To avoid turning up at the airport with an out-of-date passport, people should check that their passport is in date well before their departure date and ideally before booking flights,' he said.
The latest figures come shortly after the launch of Ireland's redesigned passport book and passport card.
Anyone who has applied for a passport since June has received the updated version, which features artwork inspired by Ireland's landscapes, wildlife and changing seasons.
