MONDAY NIGHT COLLEGE FOOTBALL SELECTION for LABOR DAY FLORIDA STATE (+3) over SMU 4:30pm PST - ESPN SMU comes in with a new OC & DC and lost their entire defensive line which was the strength of their defense last year. They replaced those guys in the portal from teams like La Tech, KSU, & UMass.. and they expect the edge rusher in Marques White to be their best defensive player who came from a 0-12 UMass team! The secondary was atrocious as well allowing a ton of explosiveness and big plays last season! How does all of that get cleaned up with a new DC all of a sudden on the ROAD in this environment?? 🤔 Keep in mind too, SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings has thrown 24 INTs in the last two seasons and that is a bit of a concern when going into a hostile environment in Tallahassee facing a solid Seminoles defense! The betting market is putting to much stock in Florida State beating New Mexico State by only 17 points last week, allowing 10/14 third down conversions. I'm sure that will get cleaned up here quickly as FSU has a solid defense under DC Tony White who is entering his 2nd season with the program in which the Seminoles defense improved significantly, ranking 4th in the ACC and being ranked 29th overall nationally in 2025! Offensively last week, HC Mike Norvell clearly stated after the game that he had no intentions of showing the best of his playbook as that was a get right spot to get prepared for SMU on Monday Night. Right now, his job is on the hot seat as FSU hasn't made a Bowl Game in four of the last six seasons since he's been with the program. Remember, when Florida State played their first true home game last season, they beat #9 ranked Alabama 31-17 in a huge upset! With HC Mike Norvell's job on the line, getting a victory at HOME and starting 1-0 in ACC play would look really good for him here and I believe the team comes together for him and wins this football game!
