Michigan will be without starting point guard Mila Holloway for the foreseeable future.
Holloway injured her lower left leg at practice and is out 'indefinitely,' according to a Michigan women's basketball spokesperson.
Holloway, a junior, started every game the past two years. She averaged 12.3 points a team-high 4.8 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game last season. She shot 43% from the field and 34% from 3. While classmates Olivia Olson and Syla Swords often led Michigan in scoring, Holloway is the one who handled the ball best and pushed the pace.
She was an honorable mention selection to last season's All-Big Ten team, per the media vote.
A program spokesperson said she could not provide additional information to MLive, though she did confirm with reporter Taylor Daniels that Holloway did not tear her ACL.
'We always talk about connectors, people that have the ability to make other people better,' Michigan coach Kim Barnes Arico said before last season. 'There's no harder job on the floor than your point guard. For Mila Holloway to come out and be able to do what she did on the national stage as a freshman, I don't know that anybody could have done that.
'There's not one person from the top down that doesn't give Mila her love and her importance to what she means to our program.'
The Michigan men's team lost a guard, freshman Brandon McCoy Jr., to an ACL tear last month.
