84 LPG cylinders stored illegally in house seized, 2 booked

Indore : The food and civil supplies department raided a residential property in Mahaveer Parisar near Gomatgiri and seized 84 illegal LPG cylinders on Monday. Food controller ML Maru said that the raid targeted the residence of Premchand Jain. Inspecting officials recovered 12 filled 14.2 kg domestic cylinders, 65 commercial 19 kg cylinders, and seven 5 kg cylinders, all belonging to Indane Gas. 'Preliminary investigations indicate the cylinders were sourced through Avadh Gas Agency for use by Jain's nephew, Abhay Jain, proprietor of Khajuriya Shyam Catering and a local hotel business,' Maru said, adding that storing a high volume of combustible gas cylinders in a residential area posed a severe explosion and safety hazard to nearby residents. Following the seizure, authorities registered a case against Premchand and Abhay under Sections 3 and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act. Collector Shivam Verma instructed officials to maintain continuous enforcement actions against illegal fuel hoarding and unauthorised commercial distribution in residential zones.
