Buckingham Palace has clarified that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, will not resume official engagements as working members of the British Royal Family despite their return to the United Kingdom. The clarification was contained in a letter sent on behalf of King Charles III, reaffirming the status of the couple, who reportedly moved back to the UK from California with their children, Archie and Lilibet, last month. According to the Palace, Harry and Meghan will remain private citizens with commercial and charitable interests and will not use the 'HRH', meaning His and Her Royal Highness, titles. The BBC reported on Monday that the letter, sent by the Lord Chamberlain, a senior Palace official, was forwarded to Harry's team, as well as the government, military and Lord Lieutenants. The development means that any public engagements undertaken by the Sussexes will be carried out in their private capacities and not on behalf of the Royal Family.
