Family demands answers after man was fatally shot by Fort Myers police The family of 30-year-old Stanley Richard says he was unarmed when Fort Myers police shot and killed him early Saturday morning, and they are demanding answers. Yvon Coulange, Richard's uncle, said the incident at Katherine Street and Jackson Street began as a fight between Richard and his girlfriend, which escalated when Richard called the police. Stop, that I think the police can stop him with a taser, you know, but he no stop him to the lazer he shoot him,' Coulange said. Coulange said he saw officers shoot Richard multiple times in the arm and lower body. Jason Foley, a neighbor, said he woke up to the sound of gunfire. 'It was like, like, real quick, probably about a whole clip's worth of gunfire,' Foley said.
