PEOSTA, Iowa — A Peosta resident and University of Iowa student has been taken off life support after collapsing amid high temperatures while preparing to perform with the Iowa marching band last week.
Derek Phillips collapsed and suffered a sudden cardiac arrest during the Saturday home football game against Northern Illinois in Kinnick Stadium, according to a social media post from his family and multiple reports from other media.
