TV CHEFS AND MICHELIN-STARRED TALENT JOIN ISLE OF WIGHT LITERARY FESTIVAL LINE-UP

Celebrity chefs Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Chris Galvin and Eric Lanlard are among a mouthwatering line-up of food and drink experts heading to Cowes for this year's Isle of Wight Literary Festival. The festival runs from 8th October to 11th October, with chefs taking to the LitFeast Marquee, sponsored by HTP Apprenticeship College, alongside talks exploring food, wine and whisky. Chef, campaigner and restaurateur Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, a familiar face on television for more than 20 years, will discuss his latest book, High Fibre Heroes: How to Turn 12 Everyday Vegetables Into 100 Joyful, Health Boosting Recipes. Article continues below this advertisement Food expert Tim Lang will discuss the threat of multiple food shocks, including climate change, volatile geopolitics and food weaponisation. His work includes Feeding Britain and the Just in Case report for the National Preparedness Commission. Former Good Food Guide editor Andrew Turvil will bring stories from the restaurant world with Blood, Sweat and Asparagus Spears. The book charts the food scene of the 1990s, including Marco Pierre White's 3 Michelin-starred food, Jamie Oliver's first television take and the arrival of conveyor-belt sushi. In the LitFeast kitchen, Michelin-starred chef Chris Galvin will demonstrate daube of venison with quince and chestnuts from Galvin: A Cookbook de Luxe. Chris, who owns 3 eateries with his brother under the Galvin banner, will also discuss his career and the inspiration behind the cookbook. Article continues below this advertisement Great British Bake Off finalist Miranda Gore Browne will demonstrate her baking skills and brings a strong Isle of Wight family connection. Her father was from the Island, her grandfather ran Roman's Farm Dairy and her grandmother ran a garden tearoom in Shanklin known for homemade cakes, scones and cream from the family dairy. French master pâtissier Eric Lanlard will demonstrate a raspberry and chocolate tart from his book Chocolat. His high-profile cake commissions have included Madonna and Guy Ritchie's wedding, weddings for Elizabeth Hurley and Claudia Schiffer, Brooklyn Beckham's christening and the Queen Mother's 101st birthday. He has also fronted Channel 4's Baking Mad with Eric Lanlard and Glamour Puds. Wine expert Helen McGinn, known from BBC1's Saturday Kitchen and ITV's This Morning, will return to host a wine tasting at Northwood House on the festival's opening evening. Meanwhile, whisky writer Ian Buxton will present Whiskies Galore, exploring single malts from the Scottish Isles, accompanied by a taste of one of the whiskies.
