TCU Former TCU standout headed to Memphis as part of multi-player NBA trade Former TCU basketball standout MIcah Peavy was a part of four player NBA trade Tuesday. The New Orleans Pelicans traded him, Jordan Hawkins, a future second round pick and a future second-round pick swap to the Memphis Grizzlies for Taj Gibson and AJ Johnson, according to ESPN. It will be the second team in two seasons for Peavy, a 6-foot-7 guard who was selected by the Washington Wizards, and then traded to the Pelicans, with the No. 40 pick in the 2025 NBA draft. Peavy entered the NBA after a journeyman college career in which he played for Texas Tech, TCU and Georgetown after playing high school basketball at Duncanville. Peavy spent three of his five college seasons in Fort Worth and has his best season in 2023-24, averaging 10.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists to help the Horned Frogs reach the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season. As a rookie last season, Peavy played in 61 games and started four for the Pelicans, averaging 4.3 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 15 minutes per game.
