PM-SETU steering committee approves Rs 735.7 cr investment to transform ITIs

New Delhi, Sep 8 (PTI) The 5th National Steering Committee (NSC) meeting of the Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM-SETU) has approved Strategic Investment Plans (SIPs) with an aggregate project outlay of Rs 735.70 crore for ITI clusters in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana. The approval raises cumulative PM-SETU investment to Rs 2,171 crore across 9 ITI clusters, accelerating the creation of modern, industry-led and future-ready ITIs nationwide, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship said on Tuesday. 'In a significant step towards accelerating the transformation of India's Industrial Training Institute (ITI) ecosystem, the National Steering Committee approved Strategic Investment Plans (SIPs) with an aggregate project outlay of Rs 735.70 crore for ITI clusters in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana,' it stated. The approvals further strengthen the industry-led approach of PM-SETU, with industry and institutional partners supporting the modernisation of ITI infrastructure, introduction of future-ready courses and closer alignment of training programmes with evolving industry requirements. The Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM-SETU) is a flagship scheme of the Government of India aimed at transforming the ITI ecosystem through industry partnerships, modern infrastructure, upgraded training programmes and improved employability outcomes. The scheme adopts an industry-led, cluster-based approach in which a Hub ITI is supported by a network of Spoke ITIs, enabling coordinated investment, modernisation and delivery of industry-relevant skills.
