A high alert at PIMS Hospital will remain in force until September 30, according to a notification. ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Sep, 2026) Federal hospitals in Islamabad have completed preparations to deal with any emergency situation, while Polyclinic has also been placed on high alert following PIMS. According to the notification, heads of medical and non-medical departments have been directed to remain present at the hospital in case of an emergency, while leave for medical staff has been restricted. Instructions have been issued to ensure the availability of additional staff in the emergency department, trauma centre, ICU, surgery department, blood bank and operating theatres. The notification also called for ensuring the availability of the maximum possible number of beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, blood supplies and medicines at the hospital. Director Emergency Dr Sharjeel has been appointed PIMS' focal person in case of an emergency, while the transport department has been directed to ensure the availability of ambulances. The surgery, neurosurgery, orthopaedic and other relevant departments have also been instructed to assign additional staff duties. Meanwhile, the Polyclinic administration has directed heads of all departments and doctors to remain available. Medical officers, trainee doctors, house officers and paramedical staff have also been ordered to remain in the city. According to the administration, Dr Tanvir Malik will serve as Polyclinic's focal person in an emergency, while necessary instructions have also been issued to the assistant executive directors.
