STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: The District Institute of Education and Trainings (DIET), Kud, Udhampur, organised a district-level science seminar on the theme 'Indian Energy Basket 2047: Prospects and Challenges' at Higher Secondary School (HSS) Garhi. The seminar aimed to foster scientific temperament, critical thinking and awareness among students about India's future energy requirements, sustainability and the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. The event was held under the guidance of Irvinder Kour, Principal, DIET Kud, and witnessed participation from all 11 educational zones of Udhampur district. Around 550 students participated at the zonal level, out of which 40 finalists presented their innovative ideas, research-based perspectives and analytical insights on India's energy future at the district-level event. Dr Jagdish Chander Mehra, Joint Director, School Education, Udhampur-Reasi Range, was the Chief Guest, while Sunil Kumar Khajuria, Chief Education Officer, Udhampur, attended as Guest of Honour. Dr Mehra highlighted the importance of energy conservation and youth participation in nation-building, while Khajuria stressed the need to align students' initiatives with the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. Renu Kotwal, Principal, HSS Garhi, welcomed the guests and emphasised the importance of adopting practical energy-saving measures in daily life. A special attraction was a song on energy conservation and Viksit Bharat 2047, written in Dogri script by Neetika Mallee, Zonal Coordinator, Ramnagar, and performed by Parveen Singh and Kuldeep Singh Mankoti, Coordinators from Zone Babey. Nodal Officer Bishan Sharma, HOD, DIET Kud, supervised the event, while Dr Rashpal Singh, Senior Lecturer and District Coordinator NSS-2026, coordinated its execution from the zonal to district levels. District Technical Coordinator Sanjay Kumar managed the technical arrangements. Stage Secretary Rekha Rani, renowned artist associated with Radio Kashmir Jammu and Doordarshan, efficiently conducted the proceedings. The seminar concluded with an award distribution ceremony, honouring outstanding presentations and appreciating students for their research, creativity and articulation. Neetika Mallee presented the vote of thanks.
