Well, it's been a week or more since I last wrote anything on here. No articles. No notes. And all because I had this huge crisis of confidence. A lack of belief. Crushing doubts. Subscribe It hits me on occasion. Whether it's a neurodivergent thing, or a menopausal thing, or both of those combined … who knows? But I couldn't write. My romance work pulled at me and demanded that I put it front and centre and important and because that work is contracted, I did, but I even struggled with that. I internalise so much stuff. I feel things deeply and when it happens it crushes my soul and when that happens, I stop writing. And I so want to be good at this! I can't even put into words how good I want to be at this! But here I am. Struggling to put words together. Doubting stories. Doubting myself. I had a good sit down chat with a couple of people today and talked about my writing and they were so positive and gave me so much belief and I felt stupid and silly for wallowing, because they believe in me so much and the only person putting barriers in front of me is … me. So I'm resolving to keep putting words down on the page. Whether they're good at not. I'm resolving to resting when I need to. To filling the well with quality, rather than quantity. To stop the endless mindless doomscrolling. To being here and being present. And mindful. And to write. Because that's a huge part of who I am and if the words can't get out of my brain, then they all get tangled up in there and then they're no use to anyone! Anyway. I just wanted to explain my absence a little bit. Maybe no-one noticed I was gone? And that's absolutely fine, too. But someone might have. Even if that someone was just me. So yeah. I'm back. Here's to all of us finding and excavating the good words. The great stories. They reside in us all. Comment
