Fans are asking why billionaire Beyoncé is selling an empty wooden box for nearly $1,000. The singer released the limited-edition 'Bey Keeper Collector's Box' for $948.01, with only 500 boxes available. The price is a nod to Beyoncé's Sept. 4, 1981, birthday. The 18-by-14-inch pine wood crate features deep green velvet lining, custom engraving, a faux alligator-skin leather strap and gold hardware. Photo via Instagram, @beyonce The box was created to house and display Beyoncé's vinyl collection, but the vinyl records are sold separately. With an estimated $60.50 shipping charge and approximately $103.38 in taxes, the total purchase can reach about $1,111.89, The New York Post reported. That price tag quickly sparked a financial debate online. One person on X criticized Beyoncé's relationship with her fan base, writing: 'She hate her fans, and her fans are so f-cking stupid and they deserve it, I hope they buy everything. While never interacting with their ass.' She hate her fans, and her fans are so fucking stupid and they deserve it, I hope they buy everything. While never interacting with their ass. pic.twitter.com/kSYInFAlwR — Origami (@Rid3withminaj_) September 4, 2026 It's obviously not for people who can't afford it — ArtofWar (@bajescotty246) September 4, 2026 Another defended the price from a consumer-choice perspective, posting: 'It's obviously not for people who can't afford it.' A third shifted the blame away from Beyoncé and toward consumers who choose to spend that much money on an empty wooden box: 'Don't drag HER. Drag the poor fools who bought the empty boxes.' Don't drag HER. Drag the poor fools who bought the empty boxes. — Wayne Henderson (@henderway) September 4, 2026 Another X user wrote: 'let me ask you something do you have to buy it? do we drag trump for selling those gold cards for 1 million dollars? no we don;t have to buy it right?' let me ask you something do you have to buy it? do we drag trump for selling those gold cards for 1 million dollars? no we don;t have to buy it right? — heavenhollywood (@heavenhollywood) September 4, 2026 Beyoncé celebrated her 45th birthday from a VIP suite at Jay-Z's sold-out concert at London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sept. 4. During the show, Bey appeared on the stadium's giant screens as she waved and blew kisses to the crowd. Jay-Z then paused his set to lead the audience in singing 'Happy Birthday' to his wife as fireworks erupted around the stadium. The celebration came during the opening night of Jay's two-night London run, which also featured surprise appearances by Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean of the Fugees, along with other special guests.
