Bedhampton Court residents dance their way around the world

Residents at a Havant care home were transported around the world without leaving their lounge when professional dancers brought an afternoon of international dance to the home. Residents at Bedhampton Court, on Hulbert Road, enjoyed a performance from Emma and Raires, who introduced them to a selection of dance styles inspired by different parts of the world. The afternoon included dances from Spain, Argentina and New York, with each style bringing something different to the performance. Residents watched as the dancers demonstrated the different movements and rhythms, before having the chance to get involved themselves. Several residents joined in with the dancing, turning the afternoon into an interactive session rather than simply watching a performance. The event gave residents the opportunity to enjoy music, movement and a chance to try something new, while also spending time together. Staff at Bedhampton Court said residents thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and are already looking forward to welcoming Emma and Raires back for another visit. Bedhampton Court is a 47-bedroom care home in Havant, set across two floors and surrounded by landscaped gardens. The home provides residential, nursing, respite, dementia and palliative care, as well as care for people under 65. Alongside its bedrooms, the home has several communal areas, including lounges, a large conservatory and access to a courtyard garden and lawns. Activities and events form part of daily life at the home, giving residents opportunities to socialise and take part in activities suited to their interests. With Spanish steps, Argentine rhythms and New York-inspired moves all on the afternoon's itinerary, Bedhampton Court proved that you do not need to travel far to experience a taste of the world. And judging by the residents' reaction, they will be more than ready to put their dancing shoes on again when Emma and Raires return.
