Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi has directed the authorities concerned to implement fast-track administrative and academic reforms at Edwardes College Peshawar, emphasizing that restoring the institution's academic excellence was among the provincial government's top priorities. Chairing a meeting on the college's administrative and academic affairs, the Governor reviewed matters relating to governance, infrastructure, digital systems, e-learning, academic performance and students' achievements. Adviser to the Governor on Education Dr. Syed Amir Abdullah, the Secretary Higher Education Abidullah Kakakhel, members of the Board of Governors, the college principal and other relevant officials attended the meeting. The meeting was also briefed on the college's financial management, administrative reforms, accountability measures, extracurricular activities and tax-related issues. Expressing dissatisfaction over the institution's current performance and administrative affairs, Governor Kundi directed the authorities to resolve all outstanding issues on a priority basis and undertake administrative and academic improvements on a war footing. He tasked Adviser Education Dr. Syed Amir Abdullah with overseeing comprehensive reforms at Edwardes College and directed that the process for appointing a permanent principal be completed at the earliest. He also ordered the immediate completion of vacant positions in the college's pending committees. The Governor further directed that a third-party audit of the college's administrative and financial affairs be conducted, necessary steps be taken to transfer the college's funds to the Bank of Khyber, and tax-related issues be resolved on a priority basis. He also called for an effective strategy to increase student enrolment in departments with low admissions, improve the computer laboratory and take practical measures to enable Edwardes College to award its own degrees. Governor Kundi said all matters relating to the institution's revival should be pursued on a fast-track basis, while comprehensive planning should be undertaken to improve the college's infrastructure and launch development works without delay. He stressed that Edwardes College must be restored to its former academic prestige and reputation. Participants of the meeting also presented various proposals aimed at improving the college's development, educational standards and administrative performance.
