90% drop in admissions in Punjab govt higher secondary schools revealed

About 90 percent drop in admissions in government higher secondary schools across Punjab has been revealed, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday. Such 90 percent dropout after matriculation has become a major challenge for the education system. Only 56,000 students took admission in higher secondary in the 11th grade this year while more than 600,000 students of the 10th grade were studying in government schools across Punjab. More than 550,000 students took admission in various colleges at the time of admission in the 10th to 11th grades. About 9 out of every 10 students do not take admissions in the 11th grade after the 10th grade. Reporter: Junaid Riaz
