FRISCO — Cowboys Pro Bowl left guard Tyler Smith will miss four to six weeks with a thumb ligament injury that requires surgery, which will take place Tuesday. Coach Brian Schottenheimer made the announcement Monday as the Cowboys prepare for the start of the 2026 season. Smith will be placed on injured reserve/return and TJ Bass moves into the starting spot. Schottenheimer said the thumb injury was bothering him for some time and that it was just time to get the surgery.
