Mamdani Pressed On Rudy Giuliani Questioning His Patriotism In 9/11 Ceremony Jab

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) was pressed by a local CBS reporter this week on former Mayor Rudy Giuliani's savage call for him to be barred from 9/11 memorial ceremonies in the city. "Mayor, I'm sure by now you're familiar with what former Mayor Giuliani said yesterday — that not only should you not attend on Friday, but that whereas the hijackers were open about their disregard for America, you're trying to hide yours. What is your response to this?" asked the reporter. "I'm proud to be the mayor of this city. I love this city. I love this country. And what I want this week to be a focus on, is the families whose loved ones were stolen from them 25 years ago in the horrific act of terror on September 11th, and also a focus on the first responders who gave everything they could to this city, and the people who came together to try to help their fellow New Yorkers," replied Mamdani, adding: So, in the days to come, my focus will be on attending events that memorialize that incredible courage, and I will be there on Friday at the memorial, just as I was last year. "Did you see Giuliani's comments, and do you have any thoughts on it?" followed up the reporter. "I don't have much more to add," Mamdani concluded. "Frankly, whatever he'd like to say, he doesn't agree that Sept. 11 was an Islamic terrorist attack on the United States of America," Giuliani fumed to Newsmax on Sunday. "Having lost friends there, and being very close to many of the families, it offends me that he's coming." The former Trump lawyer also took a swipe at Mamdani's religion. "They have every desire to take us over. This is not, they want to be just another religion, they want to dominate us.
