Maryville landed six players and William Blount four on the District 4-3A All-District volleyball team announced ahead of the district tournament on Monday. Maryville was headlined by Blakelyn Upward, who was named the district's Most Valuable Player and Hitter of the Year. Annabeth Babelay was named Libero of the Year, and Maryville's Chris Hames earned Coach of the Year. Mary Childress joined Upward and Babelay on the first team, Charlette Upward and Madison Ahlers were second-team selections, and Rylan Mello received honorable mention to round out the Lady Rebels' honorees. William Blount's Ella Reed was named Setter of the Year and joined Peyton Correll on the first team. Ally Everett was a second-team selection, and Lydia Hales received honorable mention for the Lady Govs. Hardin Valley's Caroline Clauss was named Server of the Year., Kate Johnson took Blocker of the Year while West's Lucy Collett was named Sophomore of the Year, and Lenoir City's Emmy Walkup was named Freshman of the Year.Joining the Maryville and WBplayers on the first team were Hardin Valley's Maddie Jerrell, Farragut's Megan Frana, West's Ceil Bankston, Bearden's Lyla Sutton, Lenoir City's Rylee Bolling and Karns' Bailey McNew. Maryville's Elliott Metz and William Blount's Grace Hines received the Senior Academic Award for their schools. William Blount and Maryville both kick off the Region 2-District AAA tournament on Monday at West.
