By LAHORE: A Punjab delegation led by Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat and Special Assistant Ali Dar, representing Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, visited the Communication and Experience Centre of China's National Big Data (Guizhou) Comprehensive Pilot Zone. According to a message received here, the delegation was briefed on the historical evolution of the industry and the centre's role in governance, public livelihoods and industrial development under the big data pilot zone. The delegation appreciated the achievements of China's first national-level big data pilot zone, as well as its plans for the future and initiatives in digital innovation. It also expressed interest in exploring new avenues of digital cooperation between Pakistan and China. The delegation said Pakistan could benefit from big data technologies and data cooperation to meet its development needs. It noted that modern technologies being used in the pilot zone could also help Punjab tackle smog and strengthen environmental monitoring and control. The pilot zone has applications in data storage, smart logistics, environmental monitoring, autonomous vehicles and artificial intelligence. Copyright Business Recorder, 2026
