‘A big worry to not score yet' – Agbonlahor tells De Zerbi to start ‘this' 28-year-old and Maddison to solve Tottenham's goalscoring form

Tottenham Hotspur's start to the season has not gone according to plan under head coach Roberto De Zerbi. The performances haven't been up to scratch, with the new players struggling to show their true colours on the pitch. This means Roberto De Zerbi's side have not scored across 270 Premier League minutes. That solitary point has now seen Tottenham move off the foot of the table into 18th place after matchweek three. It is a worrying start to the campaign for Spurs. De Zerbi's side not even having a shot on target against Nottingham Forest led to extreme criticism from the fans. The likes of Savio, Omar Marmoush, Mykhaylo Mudryk and Mohammed Kudus tried to unlock the Forest backline but failed. Now, former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has urged De Zerbi to start Dominic Solanke and James Maddison to fix his team's goalscoring issues. He thinks the English duo could provide creativity, goals and mobility up front, with summer signings Savio and Marmoush failing to spark life into Tottenham's attack thus far. 'Solanke has to start in the game,' Gabriel Agbonlahor said on the talkSPORT show. 'They need Maddison back in there. They need Solanke leading the line, and then two wingers off them. 'But it's a big worry to not score yet.' De Zerbi will now be hoping his side can build on their latest performance. The Italian was unhappy with the decision-making of certain players against Forest, and he might decide to ring some changes in his XI. Starting Dominic Solanke could be an option, with the England international coming off the bench in each of the three league fixtures. Solanke starting up top might lead to Marmoush being pushed out on the left. Agbonlahor calling for Maddison to start doesn't make sense. The playmaker has missed the last three games in all competitions after suffering a shoulder injury in the opening weekend defeat to Brentford. The Englishman has been injury-prone in the last two years and needs to be managed carefully by the gaffer. His participation against Everton on Saturday remains doubtful.
