Nintendo has revealed a special Nintendo Switch 2 model for the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda, featuring a green-teal color palette and Triforce motifs. The console will be released on October 29, alongside themed accessories and the highly anticipated Ocarina of Time remake. Nintendo has officially announced a new Nintendo Switch 2 model celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda. There had already been some rumors about the celebratory hardware, but now the company has confirmed that they are true. The announcement was made during a special presentation, which showcased the release date for the Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, as well as gameplay features that it will have when it arrives later this year - competing with Grand Theft Auto 6 in November. Announced via the official The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct event broadcast on the Nintendo of America channel on YouTube, the new Nintendo Switch 2 model will arrive later this year. The new hardware model will feature elements celebrating a ton of the symbology from the classic franchise, including the Triforce and the iconic green-teal color palette. According to the announcement, the new Zelda Nintendo Switch 2 console will be released on October 29, a few days before the Ocarina of Time remake drops. The new Nintendo Switch 2 console themed after The Legend of Zelda's 40th anniversary will be an homage to the entire series. What stands out immediately is that its two Joy-Cons are green with Triforce symbols imprinted on them. On the back side of the console, gold and silver triangles adorn the hardware. Of course, this is not all there is to it. The docking station featured in the Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct event will have the Triforce and its three principles: Wisdom, Power, and Courage, highlighted in the center, while golden triangles adorn it too. On top of the core hardware release, Nintendo also announced two other accessories celebrating the iconic action-adventure franchise. The first of them is a Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, which is black, green, and gold, adorned with golden triangles and the Triforce. The second is a Nintendo Switch 2 Carrying Case & Screen Protector; the carrying case is black with dark black triangles, and in the center, the same iconic representation of the Triforce and its three principles. There had been rumors about this hardware's release, but now we have official confirmation. It was a pretty busy Direct event. Not only did we get all this information and release dates for the Ocarina of Time remake and The Legend of Zelda movie but also official gameplay for Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which highlighted mechanics, visuals, and new additions to game design, such as a free, open-world version of Hyrule Castle Town - in the original Ocarina of Time, it had a fixed camera angle on pre-rendered scenarios. The wait is fairly short, as the new game arrives in November. As seen in the presentation, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake arrives on November 5. Before that, however, you'll be able to purchase your new Nintendo Switch 2 console celebrating The Legend of Zelda's 40th anniversary to play the new Ocarina of Time in style.
