Guwahati, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : Indigo Airlines has announced the launch of its first international flight service from Northeast India. Starting October 27, 2026, the airline will operate non-stop flights between Guwahati and Bangkok twice a week.
This new service marks a significant milestone for Indigo, as it initiates international flights from Guwahati. It also represents the beginning of direct international air travel from Northeast India.
According to Indigo, the new route is expected to enhance tourism, trade, and cultural exchanges between Northeast India and Thailand. Additionally, it will strengthen Guwahati's position as an emerging international gateway to Southeast Asia.
Guwahati has been an integral part of Indigo's growth journey since its early flights in 2006, which included the Delhi-Guwahati-Imphal route. The decision to commence international operations from this city reflects the airline's commitment to the region.
The direct flights are anticipated to save travel time for passengers and increase the influx of foreign tourists to Northeast India, benefiting the local economy and tourism sector.
