Editorial Standards ⓘ Editorial Standards ⓘ DANVILLE, Va. — A toddler was airlifted to the hospital after a shooting in an apartment complex on Labor Day in Danville. According to the Danville Police Department, officers received a 911 call about multiple shots fired and a one-year-old girl being struck by gunfire around 1:30 a.m. at the G building of the Purdum Woods Apartments at 1575 Richmond Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers said they found the little girl with a gunshot wound located in the lower part of her body. Emergency personnel airlifted the child to a nearby trauma facility, where police said she remains in stable condition. Get the latest news stories of interest by clicking here Officers said their initial investigation led them to discover that multiple shots were fired at a group standing in the breezeway of the G building of Purdum Woods. Officers said the 1-year-old who was shot was being held by her mother, who was also in the breezeway, at the time of the shooting. Two units in the G building were also damaged by gunfire.
