Defensive lineman Darius Wiley ruled out for the season

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia football defensive lineman Darius Wiley has been ruled out for the season, head coach Rich Rodriguez announced on Tuesday. Wiley was injured early in the fourth quarter of Saturday's win over Coastal Carolina. He had to be carted off the field with an air cast on his leg. Rodriguez said the plan is for him to have surgery sometime this week. 'He's waiting to have surgery, we want to have it as soon as possible,' Rodriguez said. 'It's an extensive surgery, there's a lot of fixing they've got to do.' A Kentucky native, Wiley joined WVU this offseason from Hutchinson Community College. The redshirt sophomore had three tackles and a tackle for loss against the Chanticleers. 'He was having a great camp, and he was playing well,' Rodriguez said. 'He's a really, really hard-working guy, so I feel 100% confident that he'll be able to come back, not this year, but he'll take this as a challenge and come back, hopefully healthy, next year.'
