Mumbai: Karan Rajendra Darda , executive director of the Lokmat Media Group, one of India's leading regional media organisations, has been elected president of the Indian Newspaper Society (INS) for 2026-27. He succeeds Vivek Gupta of Sanmarg. The 87th annual general meeting of the INS, the apex body representing publishers of newspapers, magazines and periodicals in the country, was held on Monday. Tanmay Maheshwari of Amar Ujala has been elected deputy president. Harsha Mathew of Vanitha is the new vice president, while Anant Nath of Grihshobha is honorary treasurer for 2026-27. Mary Paul is the secretary-general of the society.
