MUMBAI – Bollywood actor Sunny Deol has recalled receiving a warm welcome in Pakistan during his visit to the Kartarpur Corridor, saying he was shown 'a lot of love' during the trip.
Deol, who is currently promoting his recently released film Batwara (1947), discussed his experience of visiting the Kartarpur Corridor during a recent interview.
Asked whether he had ever visited Pakistan, the actor said he had never travelled to the country but had the opportunity to visit Kartarpur when the corridor was inaugurated.
Deol explained that Kartarpur was part of his electoral constituency at the time, which led to him being included in the delegation that travelled to the corridor.
Recalling the visit, he said he received considerable affection in Pakistan, including from members of the military.
According to Deol, some Pakistani soldiers told him they loved him and asked that he avoid making films that portrayed Pakistan negatively. He said he responded that he was only playing a character.
The actor also stressed that people naturally love their respective countries, adding that wrongdoers should be dealt with while innocent civilians should not be targeted.
