The Health Services Academy (HSA), Islamabad, is looking to expand its academic and institutional ties with Chinese healthcare organisations following a visit by its Additional Registrar, Syed Murtaza Gillani, to Wuhan and Nanning.
Gillani represented the academy at the World Union of Manual Medicine Conference in Wuhan, where he met international healthcare experts and professionals to discuss public health, medical education and ways to improve healthcare systems.
His participation also provided an opportunity to explore potential partnerships between Pakistan and China in medical education, research and professional training.
During his subsequent visit to Nanning in China's Guangxi region, Gillani toured the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi and held discussions with its Party Chairman and President on possible areas of institutional cooperation.
The talks covered weight management programmes, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in radiology, advanced diagnostic technologies and academic partnerships with the Health Services Academy.
The Chinese hospital's leadership assured HSA of its support, including opportunities for students and faculty members to benefit from joint training, research initiatives and academic exchange programmes.
The visit provided an opportunity to build stronger institutional connections, exchange professional expertise and explore the adoption of modern healthcare practices through cooperation between the two countries.
It also underscored the shared interest of Pakistan and China in deepening their longstanding partnership, particularly in healthcare, medical research and education.
