Punjab begins procurement of election material for LG polls

LAHORE - The process for procuring election material for the upcoming local government elections in Punjab has begun following a consultative meeting between the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the provincial government. The ECP has authorised the Provincial Election Commissioner Punjab to initiate the purchase of election material, while tenders for procurement are expected to be issued shortly. According to sources, the Punjab government has agreed in principle to hold the local government elections between December 15, 2026 and January 15, 2027. The procurement process includes arrangements for the election material required for conducting the polls across the province. The ECP's decision to initiate procurement ahead of the elections is being viewed as an effort to ensure timely availability of electoral material and prevent any further delay in the conduct of local government elections in Punjab.
