Jimmy John's worker accused of shooting 14-year-old girl after argument inside restaurant

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV/Gray News) - A disagreement between a woman and individuals associated with a Jimmy John's near the Saint Louis University Campus ended with a 14-year-old girl getting shot in the leg, police said. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police, just before 6 p.m., District 4 and 5 officers were called to the intersection of Vandeventer and Laclede for a shooting. There, they found a 14-year-old girl inside a car with a gunshot injury to her leg. She was taken to an area hospital and is in stable condition. Police say that a preliminary investigation points to a disagreement between the mother of the 14-year-old and individuals associated with the Jimmy John's in the 3800 block of Laclede. Police are still investigating the connection between the mother and the restaurant. At one point, the mother's boyfriend arrived at the restaurant with the 14-year-old. The disagreement grew to the point that shots were fired. Police said on Sunday that after several interviews, a 27-year-old man and a 38-year-old man were arrested. Police say the investigation is ongoing. Court records state that Adam White, 27, was charged with four counts of armed criminal action, two counts of first-degree assault, one count of first-degree assault on a special victim, one count of unlawful use of a weapon, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child. Police say their investigation found that White worked at the Jimmy John's and got into an argument with a woman who used to work at the restaurant. The argument continued in the parking lot where the woman and White kept arguing, according to court records. The boyfriend of the woman and her teen daughter were present for the argument. When the woman got into her car with her boyfriend and child and began driving away, documents state White fired shots at the back of the car, with one of the shots hitting the teen on the leg. The trio went to another location for their safety, where police found them. Police said in court documents that when they arrived, White had already left the scene, but later returned and was driven by a friend. He was taken into custody. After being read his rights, White admitted to shooting at the car. He also said he left the gun at his house. He is being held with no bond.
