And welcome back to Cubs Roundtable. I'm Joey Polizzi, talking about all things Cubs. And Pico Armstrong is having a fantastic season in 2026. And last year, Armstrong finally broke out, 30-plus home runs, 30-plus stolen bases, but this year, Armstrong has taken his game to a whole new level. After hitting his 40th home run of the season on Sunday, Armstrong continues to etch his name into Cubs history. That 40th home run makes him just the second left-handed hitter in Cubs history to hit 40-plus home runs in a season, joining Billy Williams, and he also became the second player in Cubs history to hit 40-plus home runs in their age 24 season or younger, joining Ernie Banks. It has been a phenomenal season for Pro- for Pete Armstrong, and he also became the first player in Cubs history to have a 40-plus home run, 30-plus stolen base campaign. Sammy Sosa never did it. Ryne Sandberg never did it. Billy Williams never did it. Pico Armstrong has- is having an historic season for the Cubs, and at this point, he is in that driver's seat to win the first career MVP for him in 2026. He's doing it with his bat, and he's also doing it with his glove as he is kind of ranking toward the top of the league in almost every statistical defensive metric. He ranks first in outs above average, first in fielding run value, first in four-star catches. Armstrong is having a fantastic season in 2026, and the Cubs are obviously gonna need him to step up and continue to step up down the stretch and into the playoffs, but it's no doubt been a historic season for Pico Armstrong.
