Commissioner Reviews Rawal Dam Filtration Plant Operations

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Aug, 2026) Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Salman Ghani on Friday paid a visit to the Rawal Dam Filtration Plant and reviewed arrangements for provision of clean drinking water to citizens. The commissioner was given a detailed briefing on the capacity of the filtration plant and the water supply system. He said the plant would prove highly beneficial for residents of nearby localities and play an important role in meeting their drinking water requirements. Appreciating the performance of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Salman Ghani directed that the filtration plant be kept fully operational at its optimum capacity to ensure uninterrupted and quality drinking water supply to citizens. He directed the concerned authorities to regularly monitor water supply projects and related installations and ensure timely repair and maintenance of the filtration plant and other facilities. The commissioner also called for an effective mechanism to prevent water wastage and ensure immediate repair of leakages. He stressed the need for regular testing and continuous monitoring of water quality. 'Provision of clean drinking water is among the top priorities of the district administration,' he said, directing that the water requirements of nearby communities be reviewed regularly and the water supply system further improved according to their needs. He directed all relevant departments to work in close coordination and ensure quality, transparency and timely completion of public welfare projects. Salman Ghani said regular monitoring of the performance of WASA and other relevant departments would continue to ensure better and uninterrupted water supply to citizens.
