White House's Rogers to Newsmax: Trump Renews Vow to Fight Terrorism

White House Deputy Press Secretary Taylor Rogers told Newsmax on Tuesday that President Donald Trump is renewing the pledge to protect America from terrorist attacks. Rogers said Tuesday on "National Report" that Trump told an audience at the White House Ellipse that the nation honors "many of the family members and the first responders who showed great acts of heroism on 9/11." Rogers cited Trump's comments to remind Americans of the work to protect the nation and "renew the vow that we will never allow those evil acts of terrorism to happen again in our country." "We will thank the great American heroes and patriots who showed the ultimate sacrifice on that day," Rogers said of Friday's observance of the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Rogers said 9/11 is "a very important day in our nation's history" and discussed the importance of the anniversary. "The president and the vice president, the Trump administration, want America to remember how we all unified behind our love of country, our patriotism, [and] that we live in the greatest country on earth, and that we should all be proud and unified behind that message." In advance of the 9/11 remembrance event near the White House on Tuesday, the administration press office posted: "President Trump will pay tribute to the heroes and victims of 9/11 with remarks and a ceremony at the White House. We will never forget the acts of extraordinary bravery and heroism of our first responders on that fateful day."
