Shah says PM's diplomacy won global recognition, helped India post 7.8% growth

Panaji : Union home minister Amit Shah on Monday said India's diplomacy has gained global recognition under Prime Minister Narendra Modi , with countries seeking the PM's views on major global challenges. Shah said Modi had restored prominence to Indian diplomacy after a long time. Shah, who was in Goa on a two-day visit, attended a Western Zonal Council meeting and a Goa Police function for the President's Police Colour. Speaking on cybercrime, Shah said the PM has initiated a direct connect with all states to fight cyber fraud . He said the 1930 helpline would play an important role in protecting people from this. Shah credited Modi's outreach over the past year for helping India achieve 7.8% economic growth despite uncertainty linked to the Iran–US and Ukraine–Russia wars. He said Modi travelled to 22 countries in the last year, while around 15 heads of state visited India. At a time when many countries were anxious about their economies due to global turmoil, Shah said India engaged with them and pursued strategic partnerships that contributed to growth. Govt, he said, has signed agreements in defence, economic cooperation, investment, power, and commerce, and has also signed free trade agreements with nine countries. He added that India complemented these efforts with vaccine diplomacy, friendship initiatives, and by sharing its digital public infrastructure with partner countries. Shah also said India assisted several countries through disaster relief work. In Goa, Shah praised Goa police for implementing the three new laws and said the force had improved its conviction rate by 30%. He also said govt would work to stop the narcotics trade in Goa and make it the number one state in the country in action against narcotics trafficking.
