Steven Ellis, Actis' regional sales director for the East and Scotland, spoke to students at a Careers and Aspirations Day at Marston Vale Middle School.
He shared his passion for creating thermally efficient homes. Steven was one of a number of professionals from a variety of industries invited to talk at the event.
Steven was encouraged that one of the questions asked by many of the 600 children taking part was 'How does reflective insulation work?'.
He said: 'The children were very engaged, initially asking me questions about why I do what I do and what made me choose this and whether I enjoy my job. Other questions included asking how reflective insulation is different from traditional insulation.
'I talked about the construction industry, what insulation does and what we do at Actis. Each year group was given 30 minutes in the hall in which to go around the different stands to speak to professionals from different industries.'
Steven also referenced the theme park, due to open on the school's doorstep in 2031, as an example of the kind of imaginative project open to those choosing a construction career path.
Steven added: 'With predictions that there will be 8.5 million visitors a year at first, and 12 million within 20 years of opening, the magnitude of the resort points to a great need for skilled tradespeople and apprentices.
'These will be required to work not only on the 476-acre theme park but also on the road and rail links being created and upgraded to allow access to the site. This is a career opportunity on their doorstep and I'm hoping they will share my enthusiasm!'
