A court was told a Kildare driver was doing speeds in excess of 200km per hour in Laois. Vitaly Rumyantsev (29) of 1 Ferns Avenue, Monasterevin, Co Kildare is accused of having no insurance or licence and dangerous driving on the M7 at Trumera, Mountrath on July 30 last. Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said it would be alleged that the man was detected driving at 157kph and Gardaí followed him and found him 'travelling at speeds in excess of 200kms allegedly'. Judge Andrew Cody adjourned the case to Portlaoise District Court on October 22. ​
