The City of Grande Prairie is responding to a suspected release in the Bear River reported Sunday, Sept. 6. A sorbent boom has been set up at several locations to help contain the product, including at Outfall 3 near the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital site and near the Grande Prairie Museum & Heritage Village. Transportation and enforcement services staff are working upstream through drainage catchment to identify signs of the product and determine its source. The City is asking residents to avoid these areas and give crews space to work while they investigate the product and its sources.
