Create Braided Rag Rug Coaster Sept. 12 At Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center

WILLISTON, ND — Visit the Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center near Williston for Timeless Traditions: Frontier-Style Braided Rugs from 2-3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 12. Learn the techniques used by 19th-century families to transform fabric scraps into durable and decorative braided rugs, then make a rag rug coaster to take home. The free program is open to ages 8 and up. Timeless Traditions is part of the ND250 commemoration celebrating our country's 250th birthday. Fort Buford State Historic Site and the Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center are managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. Both sites are open daily 9 a.m.-5 p.m. through Sept. 30. Beginning Oct. 1, Fort Buford will close for the season, and the Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center hours will be Tuesday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and closed Sunday-Monday.
