Woltemade Juventus impact as Wolves offer Newcastle first hint of Neave role

It was a busy summer for Newcastle United, both in terms of incomings and outgoings, in the summer transfer window with eight players coming into the club and several leaving on a permanent basis. There were also 11 players who left the club on loan over the summer, whether it be youngsters taking the next step in their career, senior players who have left on a temporary basis with a view to leaving the club permanently, or new signings who have returned to their former clubs before making the move to Tyneside permanently. As they all look to impress Newcastle's decision makers from afar, Chronicle Live has taken a look at how they all fared over the weekend. Nick Woltemade is the obvious place to start after his high profile move to join Italian giants Juventus on deadline day. He had to make do with a place on the bench in their 1-1 draw with AC Milan but came on for the final 15 minutes and partnered Randal Kolo Muani up front And it was the German international who drew a foul from Koni De Winter to win the free-kick which Juve equalised from in stoppage time as Federico Gatti headed home from Teun Koopmeiners' delivery. Another high profile deadline day move saw Sean Neave join Championship promotion hopefuls Wolves and there was intrigue over how much game-time he would get at Molineux. The first indication of that came on Sunday as he replaced Adam Armstrong in the final three minutes of their 2-2 draw away at West Midlands rivals Birmingham City and he will hope to feature more prominently in their trip to face Sheffield United next weekend. Antonio Cordero continues to impress in the Spanish second division but he could not prevent them falling to their first league defeat of the season. Cordero created Cadiz's opening goal with an inswinging corner that was headed home by Javi Castro but the night ultimately ended in a 3-2 defeat to Almeria. Meanwhile, Rory Finneran made his third successive start for Notts County as they drew 1-1 away at Huddersfield Town in League One. The Ireland international impressed again, playing the full 90 minutes, with his team-mates comparing him to Sandro Tonali in the Instagram comments over the weekend. Harrison Ashby was not as successful as he had to go off during Luton Town's 1-1 draw with Leyton Orient with a groin injury and the Hatters will have to assess the severity of that blow. Alex Murphy is yet to start for Kaiserslautern but made his 2 Bundesliga debut for the German side from the bench in Saturday's 3-0 win over Darmstadt. Meanwhile, Anthony Munda continued his positive start to his loan spell with Swindon Town, starting for the fourth successive match as they beat Colchester United 3-1 in League Two. Odysseas Vlachodimos played the full 90 minutes as Sevilla drew 1-1 with Espanyol, Johan Martinez was not involved during Independiente del Valle's 3-1 win over Macara, while Leo Shahar is in line to make his Arouca debut this evening when they take on Estoril in the Portuguese top flight.
