The South African Football Association (SAFA) has announced that Morena Ramoreboli is set to join Bafana Bafana as an assistant coach to Pitso Mosimane. Previously, Ramoreboli led Bafana Bafana's COSAFA Cup squad to victory in 2021 and secured a bronze medal at the 2024 edition held in Durban. He now becomes part of Mosimane's coaching staff following the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach's recent appointment, which followed the exit of Hugo Broos. SAFA made the announcement in a joint statement with Botswana, where Ramoreboli serves as head coach. This transition highlights the strong footballing ties between the two neighboring nations and offers Ramoreboli a chance to further his coaching career at the pinnacle of African football. Both associations commend his significant contributions to Botswana football during his tenure and wish him well as he embarks on this new journey. A SUCCESSFUL TENURE WITH BOTSWANA Ramoreboli departs Botswana football having made a significant impact at both club and national levels. During his tenure with Jwaneng Galaxy, he secured two Botswana Premier League titles and guided the club to the CAF Champions League group stage on two occasions. His teams also achieved remarkable victories against South African giants Orlando Pirates and Moroccan powerhouse Wydad AC. His most notable success came during the 2024 AFCON qualifying campaign when, initially serving as interim coach, he led The Zebras to their first qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations since 2012. He was later appointed as the permanent Head Coach in January 2025. Under his guidance, Ramoreboli instilled belief, discipline, and competitiveness in the national team, and contributed to the holistic development of Botswana football. By the time of his departure, he was actively engaged in the BFA's U23 Talent Identification Programme, traveling across Botswana to scout and evaluate emerging talents for the national squad.
