In Santa Barbara North and Santa Barbara South, nighttime lane closures will begin Sept. 8 as crews prepare Highway 101 for upcoming concrete paving.
Closures are scheduled from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, through Thursday, Sept. 10, on northbound Highway 101 between Evans Avenue at the Highway 101 overpass and Hermosillo Road, and from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. on southbound Highway 101 between Milpas Street and Olive Mill Road.
Foundation drilling and bridge column work for the Cabrillo Boulevard Undercrossing are also underway, along with retaining wall construction.
In Montecito, construction continues on the permanent concrete median barrier between Olive Mill Road and San Ysidro Road.

Please drive safely through the corridor and remember to Slow for the Cone Zone. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mphfor safety throughout the construction area.
Northbound Highway 101 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tues., Sept. 8-Thurs., Sept. 10 overnight lane closures will occur between Evans Avenue at the Highway 101 overpass and Hermosillo Road for paving operations. During this time, the left lane will be closed Sept. 8-9, with traffic reduced to one lane on Sept. 10. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wed., Sept. 9, The San Ysidro off-ramp will be closed, allowing crews to install equipment that will be used to monitor traffic and roadway conditions. During this time, the left lane will be closed Sept. 8-9, with traffic reduced to one lane on Sept. 10. On-ramp at Olive Mill Road will be closed overnight from 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, through 7 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11. Drivers should use the southbound on-ramp at Sheffield Drive as a detour. On-ramp at Milpas Street will be closed overnight from 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, through 7 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11. Drivers should use the southbound on-ramp at Garden Street as a detour. 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Thurs., Sept. 10-Fri., Sept. 11, **an overnight lane closure will occur between Garden Street and Sheffield Drive for tree-trimming operations. During this time, traffic will be reduced to one lane. Off-ramp at Cabrillo Blvd, closed until summer 2028. Drivers can use the off-ramp at Spring/Olive Mill Road as a detour.
Cabrillo Blvd under Hwy 101 Flaggers will intermittently direct daytime one-way traffic beneath Highway 101 for equipment and material deliveries. Expect short delays.
S. Jameson Lane Flaggers will direct traffic on S. Jameson Lane as needed for safety barrier work.
Please note: Closure times may be subject to adjustment if needed due to equipment breakdowns, material compliance or delivery delays, or safety concerns during the shift. Consecutive ramps in the same direction will not be closed at the same time (unless noted) to allow drivers to use a ramp before or after a closure.

Highway 101: Santa Barbara North
The Santa Barbara North segment is located between Hermosillo Rd. and Salinas St.
Highway 101 and On-and Off-Ramps at Cabrillo Boulevard Interchange Storm drainage installation and irrigation crossover work continue throughout the project area. Residents and businesses may notice increased daytime construction noise from foundation drilling and retaining wall work.
Cabrillo Blvd Under Hwy 101 Foundation work and drilling continue for the Cabrillo Boulevard Undercrossing (see photo above). Crews will continue bridge column work and retaining wall construction, including installing supports and reinforcement for the bridge and constructing the retaining wall. Flaggers will intermittently direct daytime one-way traffic beneath Highway 101 for equipment and material deliveries. Expect short delays.
Highway 101: Santa Barbara South
The Santa Barbara South segment is located between Olive Mill and Hermosillo Rds.
Highway 101 and Southbound Off-Ramp at Spring/Olive Mill Rd Beginning Sept. 8, crews will conduct nighttime lane closures as they prepare the roadway for upcoming concrete paving. From 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Tues., Sept. 8-Thurs., Sept. 10, overnight lane closures will occur between Milpas Street and Olive Mill Road for paving operations. The left lane will be closed Sept. 8-9, with traffic reduced to one lane on Sept. 10. Construction continues permanent roadway improvements in the freeway median, including roadway grading, asphalt paving, and concrete paving.
