KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - With September named Hunger Action Month, Second Harvest Food Bank is calling on East Tennesseans to help build a hunger-free future through this year's theme: Assembly Required. Throughout the month, Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee is raising awareness by inviting everyone to get involved by doing the following: 'This year's theme, Assembly Required, reminds us that ending hunger takes all of us working together,' said Rachael Ellis, CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee. '229,980 of our neighbors are at risk of hunger, including children, seniors, and working families. Hunger Action Month gives us an opportunity to build awareness, mobilize volunteers, and inspire generosity so that together we can create an East Tennessee where no one goes hungry.' Those interested in learning more can do so here.
