One person drowned in Lake Wawasee over Labor Day weekend

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) - A person drowned in Lake Wawasee over Labor Day weekend. The drowning happened on September 4. The Turkey Creek Fire Territory said they received reports of a missing person near the sandbar on Lake Wawasee at around 1:52 p.m. Friday. TCFT said that it was only 55 minutes later that the missing person was found about three feet below the water. TCFT said crews tried to save the person's life, but efforts were unsuccessful. 'TCFT extends our appreciation for the quick response and teamwork from every agency involved today, thank you all. Incidents like this are difficult for everyone involved, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the individual during this incredibly difficult time,' TCFT wrote on Facebook.
