Victor gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They walked away with a 25-13 victory over the Penfield Patriots. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Blue Devils' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Patriots are ranked 280th).
Eli Ricci had a dynamite game, rushing for 38 yards and 1 score, while also throwing for 73 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Victor was charging into the backfield all evening and finished the game with 4.5 sacks. That's the best they've done in that category since at least September 4, 2025.
Penfield's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mason Cerqua, who rushed for 47 yards and 1 TD, and Jake Maurer, who picked up 141 receiving yards and 1 score. The 141 receiving yards were his most since at least September 12th last year, when he posted 141 vs. Victor.
Victor's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Penfield, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Coming up, Victor will face off against Spencerport at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The game will give the Blue Devils their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Penfield, they will take on Hilton at 7:00 p.m. on the 11th.
