SCCI To Host Seminar On EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism

SIALKOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Aug, 2026) The Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) will host an awareness seminar on the European Union Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (EU CBAM) on Wednesday,August 19,to sensitize the business and export community about emerging international environmental and sustainability requirements. The awareness session will be conducted by SGS Pakistan at the premises of the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The session will provide participants with insights into the EU CBAM Regulation,greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting methodologies,climate-aligned supply chains, ESG compliance and practical measures that Pakistani exporters can adopt to meet evolving international sustainability standards. SCCI President,Syed Ahtesham Mazhar,Chairman Departmental Committee on Research Management for Sustainable Development Dr.Raza Ullah Shah and GHG Lead Auditor at SGS Pakistan Kanwal Shehzadi are associated with the session. According to the SCCI,members of the business and export community have been invited to attend the awareness session and benefit from expert guidance on the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and its implications for exporters. The initiative was aimed at enhancing the preparedness of Pakistan's export sector and enabling businesses to better understand and respond to new environmental compliance requirements in international markets.
