The LA Clippers punishment can help the Boston Celtics

When the NBA issued its punishment to the LA Clippers following an investigation into alleged cap circumvention, everyone's focus was on the five draft picks taken away from the franchise. However, for Boston Celtics fans, the biggest takeaway was that their 2028 pick swap, including both the Clippers and the Philadelphia 76ers, now has a stronger chance of converting into a lottery pick. The swap itself is rather complicated. However, the easiest way to look at it is that if the Clippers' pick falls within the top-16, Boston will likely be walking away with a lottery pick in that draft. Given that the Clippers no longer have draft capital to offer in trades and limited routes to improve their current roster, the odds of them falling into the lottery in 2028 are high.
