Sunny start to week as temperatures rise sharply

City saw a rise in temperature on Monday Gurgaon: The city's week began on a sunny note, with a sharp rise in temperatures on Monday. The maximum temperature climbed up by more than six degrees in parts of Gurgaon. The maximum temperature was recorded at 35 degrees Celsius at NorthCap University, up from 28.5 degrees Celsius a day earlier, while Gurgaon KVK recorded 34 degrees Celsius, compared with 28.1 degrees Celsius on Sunday. The minimum temperature, however, dipped marginally to 24.6 degrees Celsius, from 24.8 degrees Celsius a day earlier. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the mercury is likely to rise gradually during the week, with daytime temperatures expected to remain above 33°C. While no weather warning has been issued for the state for the upcoming week, scattered rain is likely over parts of Haryana till Sept 11 and light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is possible at isolated places. The temperatures are likely to remain on the higher side between rain spells. With a low-pressure system over central Uttar Pradesh and a trough stretching from south Gujarat towards the state, weather conditions remain favourable for rain over parts of north India. A western disturbance over Kashmir is also persisting, which could further influence weather activity in the region. Rainfall has remained above normal in the city this month. During the first seven days of September, Gurgaon recorded 57 mm of rainfall against the normal 34 mm, an excess of 68%.
