With Boraqchin showing Sitara / Fatima that she's both very crafty and utterly ruthless in her pursuit of her goals. However, for all that she is wise, she is by no means omniscient. Sitara will have to take heart in that if she wants to save Töregene from an awful fate. Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia Ep. 10 'Wisdom': Details in Brief It all comes to a head in this episode…but there's more to come. Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia Ep. 10 'Wisdom' is the tenth episode (you can read my reviews of Ep. 1-2, Ep. 3, Ep. 4, Ep. 5, Ep. 6, Ep. 7, Ep. 8, and Ep. 9 here) of this historical drama anime series. Said anime series is the anime adaptation of the manga A Witch's Life in Mongol by Tomato Soup. Science SARU (Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!, Star Wars: Visions 'Akakiri' and 'T0-B1', Dandadan) is the animation studio behind this anime. Naoko Yamada is the chief director for this anime, with Abel Góngora as the co-director, Kanichi Katou as the writer, and Kōshirō Hino as the composer for the music we hear in this anime. Speaking of the music: the opening theme song of Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia is 'Stella' by Sekai no Owari. Meanwhile, 'Hoshi' by QUEEN BEE is the ending theme song. Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia Ep. 10 'Wisdom': The Good You'll all agree with me that Boraqchin is the one with real power here. As you might be able to tell from the title: wisdom is the central theme of Ep. 10 'Wisdom'. In this case though, it's not Sitara / Fatima (voiced by Akira Sekine (JP) and Cristina Vee (EN)) who's the only one displaying wisdom. As it turns out, there's a reason why Boraqchin (voiced by Kujira (JP) and Anastasia Muñoz (EN)) is the first wife of Ögedei Khan (voiced by Hiro Shimono (JP) and Ethan Marshall (EN)). The theming here seems to be that wisdom on its own is a neutral force. It's the people using that wisdom that determines if it's being used for good or for evil. In Boraqchin's case, it's definitely for evil. She's as wily as a fox and as ruthless as a wolf in how she deals with any enemies to her husband, both real and imagined. Alas for poor Tolui (voiced by Ryōta Suzuki (JP) and Alex Mai (EN)) in this case due to her machinations. All while that chain of events was set off by none other than Sitara. She played a very risky game thinking that she could easily outwit Boraqchin, and it very nearly led to not only her undoing but also the undoing of her partner in crime Töregene (voiced by Ami Koshimizu (JP) and Michelle Rojas (EN)). This is definitely a lesson in how wisdom and intelligence are not necessarily the same things. Sitara has proven herself to be very intelligent, but that intelligence brought arrogance with it, which nearly led to her downfall due to her lack of wisdom. Nearly…but not quite. Down But Not Out Don't give up, Sitara! Stay determined! Funnily enough, we get a callback to the beginning episodes in Ep. 10 'Wisdom'. This callback gives Sitara a great deal of inner strength to carry on, showing the power of good memories at work here. Funnily enough, for all that it's hate that Sitara appears to be working off of, it is ultimately love for her now long deceased loved ones that gives Sitara the strength to move past that wisdom failure, and set off to find Töregene. It's a great bit of theming here in how Sitara is finding new strength in love rather than hate, both in the past and in the present. Now all she has to do is figure out how to deal with Töregene's somewhat pathetic eldest son Güyük to find out where she is. We'll have to wait for the next episode of Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia to find that out though. I do have to give a great deal of kudos to Science SARU's animation team though. Their animation is giving this episode so much life. In particular, the dream quest that both Ögedei and Tolui go on at the beginning is quite appropriately ethereal. The blurry, misty edges and darkened coloration combined with the mythological story and framing makes it one of the most memorable moments of this episode, if not this entire anime. Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia Ep. 10 'Wisdom': The Bad Farewell, Tolui. You were a wonderfully complex character. Alas, if you're the type to only watch anime for bloody action, then Ep. 10 'Wisdom' will almost certainly bore you. There is that very neat bit of mythological action in that dream quest, but it's not bloody in the slightest. It's more mystical than anything else, and certainly not what any fan of shonen action would expect or even like. You'll just have to wait for later if you want action, assuming that there will be any more after Tolui's passing. Anime Recommendations Fortunately, there are many alternatives if you want good ol' bloody action. You can watch Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Kaiju No. 8, DDDD, DAN DA DAN, Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online II, Zenshu, Blue Box, Solo Leveling, Black Butler, Nyaight of the Living Cat, May I Ask for One Final Thing?, TRIGUN STARGAZE, Daemons of the Shadow Realm, and / or Kagurabachi for that.
